Photographs at News Forge Spark pass the same discipline as words. Every frame published on this portal carries credit, a hearth tag, and a bench proof initial unless explicitly withheld for legal reasons — in which case the piece notes the omission.

We do not use stock imagery to illustrate news events. Generic terrace photographs may open method pages like this one; reportage frames must come from our reporters or licensed partners with documented permission.

Capture in the field

Reporters shoot in RAW or highest-quality JPEG, sync time to SGT, and log location at five-foot-way precision where safe. Faces in private distress are not published without consent. Public officials at open events are fair subject matter with context captions — never ridicule framing.

Drone use follows CAAS guidance; when drones are not permitted, the desk uses ground-level context or licensed archive frames with explicit labels.

Monsoon rain and harsh midday light are common; reporters bracket exposures rather than pushing unchecked frames to meet noon pour time.

Credit and alt text

Credit lines read: Name / News Forge Spark, or Partner name / licence note. Alt text describes what a reader needs — not keyword stuffing. Decorative images on method pages still receive meaningful alt text for consistency.

Sub-editors reject alt text copied from captions when the caption includes analysis; alt stays descriptive, caption carries interpretation.

Bench proof for images

Before cast assignment, the lens liaison checks metadata stripped of GPS when publishing, verifies model release where required, and initials the proof sheet. A copper tick on the bench means the frame is cleared; a hairline means hold.

Corrections to captions or credit follow Make Good. We do not swap frames silently after publication except when legally compelled — and then with a visible note.

Partners and archive

Licensed partner frames carry partner credit in the caption and a licence slug in internal logs. We do not scrape social media images. When agencies publish handout photographs, we label them as handouts and avoid implying exclusive field access.

Readers may report caption errors to [email protected] with the cast timestamp and URL.

Resolution and file formats

Published photographs are exported at widths appropriate to layout — hero frames up to 800 pixels, inline frames at 720. We retain higher-resolution originals internally for Make Good swaps and print licensing requests. Originals are not published without separate permission.

Colour treatment is minimal: slight desaturation on method-page context frames to match the ember court palette. Reportage frames use natural colour unless caption notes otherwise. We do not digitally alter content to mislead — cropping for layout is noted when it removes materially relevant context.

Accessibility

Alt text is written for screen-reader clarity, not search optimisation. Complex diagrams in context plates receive long descriptions in adjacent prose. If you encounter an image with inadequate alt text, write to the lens liaison via [email protected] and we will prioritise a fix under Make Good.

Training on the bench

New photographers read this page and shadow a hearth lead for two cycles before solo assignment. The lens liaison maintains a checklist pinned near the pinboard: credit confirmed, release where needed, metadata stripped, alt drafted, hearth tag applied. No frame bypasses the checklist for deadline pressure.

Embeds and social crops

We do not republish Instagram or TikTok crops as reportage. Open Graph images for our own pages may reuse verified frames with the same credit as the article hero. Third-party platforms may crop differently — readers should rely on captions on newsforgespark.life, not preview cards elsewhere.

When readers share links, the preview may show terrace context photography from method pages — not implied to depict the linked story unless the story caption says so.
